Join the Campaign for a Safer Cubberley and a Stronger Palo Alto
This fall, Palo Altans will have the opportunity to support a critical local ballot measure that puts our community first. If approved by voters, this measure — known as the City of Palo Alto Community Safety/Services Measure — would provide dedicated, locally controlled funding to support critical community priorities, including:
Upgrading the 70-year-old Cubberley Community Center to meet current earthquake, accessibility and safety standards
Ensuring the entire community is prepared in an emergency or natural disaster
Fixing deteriorating electrical systems, wiring, and plumbing in libraries, public senior centers and other community spaces
Preserving trees, greenery and natural outdoor spaces
Providing opportunities for affordable childcare, outdoor education, senior programming and other community services
Maintaining city streets and repairing potholes

Ensuring the entire community is prepared in an emergency or natural disaster

An Affordable, Fiscally Responsible Solution
By law, 100% of funds stay in Palo Alto — nothing can be taken or redirected by the State or Federal Governments
More than 40% of the measure would be paid by visitors to Palo Alto, ensuring out-of-towners pay their fair share
Essentials like groceries, medicine and feminine hygiene products are exempt
Independent financial audits and annual public spending reports are required

Our entirely volunteer committee is led by longtime members of the community who are passionate about the future of Palo Alto. The committee’s support for engaging with this measure really starts with a strong connection to the future of the Cubberley Community Center. It’s a place people care deeply about and want to see thrive again. Beyond Cubberley, the committee is devoted to putting real investment into Palo Alto’s streets, infrastructure, and emergency response.
